Email Forwarding

As we slowly adopt Google Apps for Education at ISGR, we must slowly uncover all the operating issues of making such a transition. As of now, we actually have two email systems within the walls of the school, World Client and Gmail. It is very important that everyone links these two accounts to be sure nothing gets missed. And it doesn’t matter which email system you prefer. If you are die hard World Client user, you can remain so. If you like Gmail, you can use it! Below are the steps for forwarding one email account to another. We will start with forwarding all emails from Gmail to World Client, then how to forward World Client emails to Gmail.

Email Forwarding – Gmail to World Client

Forwarding your Gmail account to World Client is a simple 4 step process.

Step 1: Sign-in to your Google account and navigate to the Gmail app.

Step 2: Once in Gmail, click on the settings icon (top right) and choose ‘Settings’.

Step 3: From the settings page, choose ‘Forwarding and POP/IMAP’.

Step 4: Click on the ‘Add a forwarding address’ button to add your World Client email account.

Be sure, before saving these changes, that the correct option is chosen. At the top it says first ‘disable forwarding’. This is automatically the chosen setting. Just click ‘Forward a copy to ….’ under this to be sure the emails forward. Save the changes and you are done!


Email Forwarding – World Client to Gmail

Forwarding email from World Client to Gmail is also an easy 4 step process.

Step 1: Sign-in to your World Client account.

Step 2: Click on the settings icon (top right) and choose ‘Advanced Settings’.

Step 3: From here, click on ‘My Account’ and choose ‘Forwarding’.

Step 4: Add in your Gmail account and click the ‘enable mail forwarding’ box. Then click ‘Save’. You can also choose to keep a copy of your emails from here.

What may become confusing is the different email addresses we have at ISGR. Every staff member has an email address and an address. In an attempt to keep things consistent, we should all be giving out our email addresses. This poses a problem when forwarding to Gmail from World Client because emails out of Gmail will be sent from the account. So, there is one more small step to fix this. From the settings in Gmail, choose ‘Accounts’. Here you will find a section titled ‘Send mail as’. Under this section, you should be sure your account is listed and that you choose this address as your default address. You should also be sure to click the setting that says ‘Always reply from default address’.
